Cut on the triangle so it sits close to the spine and does not swing when you walk. The single padded strap crosses the chest and adjusts through a slider, and the whole bag rotates round to the front when you need to get into it, which is the point of the shape.
Woven in a green and cream herringbone hemp with a contrast black canvas base and flap pocket. Two zip compartments plus a flat back pocket that sits against the body, which is where most people keep a phone or a passport.

About the hemp
Nepali hemp grows in the hills without irrigation, fertiliser or pesticide. It is cut, retted in river water, stripped, spun by hand and woven on treadle looms. The cloth starts stiff and turns soft and supple after a season of use, and it resists mildew and abrasion far better than cotton.
