The face of this one is cut from dhaka style woven stripe, the same cloth used for traditional Nepali caps and shawls, in indigo, teal, red and white. It is backed onto a purple hemp body and finished with a heavy duty side release buckle.
The weave is done on a treadle loom in narrow widths, which is why the pattern runs across the bag rather than along it. Each bag takes whatever section of the run it was cut from, so the stripe placement varies.
