Woven in a fine indigo and cream warp stripe, cut square and deep, and closed across the full width with a zip so nothing tips out when you set it down. The handles are cotton webbing, long enough to go over a shoulder in a coat.
This is the plain, useful one. It carries a laptop, a market shop or a change of clothes, it folds flat when empty, and it looks better after a year than it does new.

About the hemp
Nepali hemp grows in the hills without irrigation, fertiliser or pesticide. It is cut, retted in river water, stripped, spun by hand and woven on treadle looms. The cloth starts stiff and turns soft and supple after a season of use, and it resists mildew and abrasion far better than cotton.
