The front panel is dip dyed by hand through orange, rose and violet so the gradient sits differently on every bag. Over the top of it, the mushroom cluster is machine guided free motion embroidery worked by a single operator, which is why the linework has the loose confident quality of drawing rather than the flatness of a printed patch.
Side panels and the top are cut from traditional Nepali woven stripe in teal, mustard and indigo. Padded straps, drawstring throat, buckled flap.

About the hemp
Nepali hemp grows in the hills without irrigation, fertiliser or pesticide. It is cut, retted in river water, stripped, spun by hand and woven on treadle looms. The cloth starts stiff and turns soft and supple after a season of use, and it resists mildew and abrasion far better than cotton.
